Enhancing National Security and Vehicle
Identification with HSRP

The Evolution of High Security Registration Plates

The landmark date of December 6, 2018, marked a significant shift in vehicle safety with the mandate for vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) to provide new vehicles, manufactured from April 1, 2019, onwards, with pre-fitted High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). This initiative, aimed at enhancing vehicleidentification and security, has been adeptly supported by HSRP vendors like Shimnit India through a robust dealership network.

Shimnit acknowledges the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ pivotal role in this transformation. Their initiatives in developing acomprehensive vehicle database -VAHAN, and seamlessly integrating High Security Registration Plates with it have been crucial.

For vehicles produced before April 1, 2019, the State Transport Department retains the authority to oversee their transition to High Security RegistrationPlates, ensuring a uniform approach to vehicle security nationwide.

High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) Feature

Shimnit takes pride in aligning with The Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, guaranteeing that every vehicle on India’s roads is equipped with a license plate that’s not just valid but a benchmark of quality. Following the mandate of Rule 50, CMVR 1989, our HSRP solutions come in four distinct sizes and colors, each designed for optimal visibility and compliance across different vehicle types.

1. Material:

The plate should be a solid aluminum unit, conforming to standards AIX 159:2019 or ISO:7591.

2.Reflective Sheeting:

The plate should be laminated with reflective sheeting that includes "IND" as part of the design.

3. Hologram:

A chromium-based hologram featuring a 'Chakra' design should be applied via hot stamping.

4. Laser Branding:

The plate should have a permanent identification number (minimum of 10 digits) laser-branded, preceded by two letters, located on the bottom left-hand side.

5. Embossing and Hot Stamping:

The plate should be embossed with alphanumeric characters and borders, hot stamped with black foil that contains the "INDIA" security inscription.

6. Third Registration Plate (Sticker):

A sticker version of the registration plate must be provided to be affixed to the vehicle's windshield.

7. Snap Locks:

The plate should be affixed using non-removable, non-reusable snap locks.
